Old Fall River Road closes for the season to vehicles on Monday, October 7. The road will be closed to all uses from Monday, October 7, through Thursday, October 10, for park staff to conduct road maintenance. On Friday, October 11, Old Fall River Road will reopen to bicycles, leashed pets and walkers through November 30. Leashed pets and bicycles are only allowed on the road, not on side trails. On December 1, the road will revert to trail status.
Yesterday morning we filmed this dramatic and breathtaking cloud cover surrounding Longs Peak from Trail Ridge Road. It was absolutely beautiful.

Fire danger has increased rapidly recently with dry, windy conditions and with the curing of a robust grass crop. As the Labor Day holiday weekend approaches, along with high visitation and high fire danger, park visitors are reminded that there are always fire restrictions in place at Rocky Mountain National Park. Campfires are prohibited in the park, except within designated metal campfire rings in front-country campgrounds and some picnic areas. Visitors are also reminded to properly extinguish and dispose of cigarettes.
