The drive along the scenic Peak to Peak Highway (named Peak to Peak because of an original plan to reach from Longs Peak to Pikes Peak skirting a National Park optimistically hoped by Enos Mills to do the same) is worth every twist and turn. These few miles are no deterrent to those who know the rewards of Wild Basin so arrive early morning during the summer season. Several trailhead options include the route passing by the sparkling decent of Cascade falls where if we look carefully in the right season, we might find the delicate Fairy Slipper Orchid. The relatively short jaunt from here on to Ouzel Falls takes us to a bridge and excellent viewing spots of the impressive waterfall.
